upload problem
« on: October 20, 2010, 06:36:31 PM »
When I upload from home with a3meg connection sure it takes a long time. When it is done I look on our video server and it shows the file is there with  the correct amount of bits (file size), but when I bring into video server software and re build the inventory list it show the run time of the video as being 00:00:00;00. It will not play.

Now when I upload from work with a 10meg connect all is fine. What is happening here? If I upload a small file say a schedule file which all are in mpeg streaming file format it works fine. It is the big files I have problem with from home.

Firstly, your home connection is probably ADSL so the 3meg speed refers to the maximum download speed. The upload speed with ADSL is always a small fraction of the download speed. That's what the A stands for in ADSL - asymmetric.

As to what the problem is with the resulting file, it's very hard to say - so that I can see what is going on, please repeat the problem then select Save FTP Transcript from the File menu and send the resulting file to me:
