What is the first thing that everyone does after they duplicate a file? They rename the duplicated file or move it someplace.
Moving it is easy, but renaming it requires some extra clicks. I suggest that when you duplicate a file, the filename of the copied file should be immediatly selected so that you can start typing the new filename.

Yes, excellent idea, it would be nice if the Finder did that as well.
At present the original file remains selected so you can't even hit Return to rename, you have to navigate to the new file.

I was really hoping that this would make it into the next version, but I dont see it in the latest beta. Any chance it can still get in by 1.5.2?

I'm sorry, this kinda slipped my attention. I'll see what I can do

Another related point may be worth changing. When a file is renamed, after pressing Return the filename reverts to the original for a while, as if Yummy didn't know you just changed it. Then of course a refresh from the server gets it right, but this is a little disconcerting.
Better to change the display to the new name and then still refresh to make sure all is well. Thanks.

Yes, that's easily fixed. Thanks for bringing it up The auto-rename after duplication issue is a little more tricky, however. I'm working on it...

The rename / revert / update tweak has now been implemented.

Works beautifully. Thanks.
EXCEPT!! Because of the optional change to the action of the "Return" key (see other thread), when I rename a file and then press Return the file opens. This is a surprise. I think that while editing a filename Return should always just complete the edit and no more (whatever the setting of the Return key action).

Obviously a bug and already fixed in a later build

I notice that in list view if you have a folder "open" -- i.e. showing its contents -- and rename it, then the folder gets closed, which is slightly annoying, but not the end of the world Not sure why I didn't notice this earlier. Cheers.

Due to the way the rename works, I don't think I'll be able to keep the folder open I'm afraid. Maybe you didn't notice this either, but the renamed item will lose selection for the same reason.
