But you know the new name so you should be able to both select it and open it again, I would have thought.  :-\

Just returning to the edit-selection after renaming ('cause I know you are twiddling your thumbs at the moment, not knowing what to do next) ... what would be REALLY nice is if the file extension (including ".") was not included in the selection, then you could just type the new name. OK it's not a big issue as you can retype the extension, but I find it very slightly annoying. A feature like this would just add to the overall feel of the "cool" software, and the advantage is there are no side-effects or documentation changes necessary :D

What makes you think I'm not busy adding cool new features? ;D

Actually, I already investigated this not so long ago and I couldn't see a way to do it. I'll check into it again at some point. Note that Yummy behaves identically to the Finder in this respect, so I guess you could say it's consistent behavior, at least.

Yes, thanks for looking at it. It is always a difficult choice: consistency with the Finder is good, but then the Finder is pretty stupid in many ways. As you know, one is the result of hitting Return when a file is selected (Finder renames instead of opens as in Windows), which you have already solved (thanks again for that!).

Isn't there a call to set the limits of the current selection? Well there obviously is, but I suppose if you are restricted to using just standard file-list calls then this may not be possible.  And I will understand  :'(
