Hidden files not visible on new server
« on: March 31, 2011, 09:38:48 AM »
Hello Jason,

Today my webspace is transferred to a new server.
When I checked a few folders I noticed that my hidden .htaccess files where not transferred, I tried the menu option to  show/hide them  with YummyFTP 1.8.4  but they didn't show up so I thought they where lost in the transfer process.

I informed my service provider about this and he showed me with a screenshot of CyberDuck that the hidden files are transferred fine and visible in CyberDuck's window.

Can you check this out, did I made a mistake when I setup  the connection for the new server, or is it a bug in YummyFTP ?

Best,
Wim

Enable 'Issue LIST-la command' under the Server Browser section of the Interface panel in the Preferences.

Some servers require a special command to be sent in order to show the hidden files. This is one of them.

I don't enable this feature by default because it can cause problems with servers that interpret the command to mean "list only files which have -la in their name" which is not what anyone would expect. It's a bit dangerous of CyberDuck to enable it by default...

Hello Jason,

Thanks for your support.

Your advice to toggle on the 'Issue LIST-la command' did the trick and after the list was refreshed all hidden files (and all other ones ;-) are now visible again.

Best,
Wim

You're welcome :)

Please note, while you're reading, I didn't forget about your SFTP MacBinary requirement... it's just proving more tricky than I first anticipated.

Is the .htusers.php file visible in the server listing of Yummy FTP?

If not then your preferences settings are not correct. You need to enable :

Server Browser:
Show invisible items √
Issue LIST -la comand √

I would also advise to show Mac hidden files too, otherwise you can't see what is transferred:

Mac Browser:
Show invisible items √

Click Save button.

Reconnect to your server after checking the Preferences to be sure of no cached problems.

Let me know if you can see the .htusers.php file on the server and on the Mac, then we will investigate further.

Also, are you using FTP or SFTP?
