Watcher upload problem
« on: June 06, 2011, 10:14:07 AM »
Hello!

Yummy FTP is great.  However, we have one problem using at work.

I have set up a watcher that watches a folder for new files, and uploads them to an FTP location.  It works great most of the time, but occasionally when there are multiple users transferring multiple files to the folder, the watcher will partially upload some files, or continually upload and corrupt one file until it is cancelled manually.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?  Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks!

When you say "multiple users" do you mean they're writing to a shared folder on that Mac across the network?

It is designed for locally created files/folders... I'm pretty sure the latency of a network transfer, particularly with many users, will cause some issues.

Hi JD,

Yes, a shared folder on a local network with 3 users maximum.  It can occur when 1 user drops a large batch of files as well.

Thanks,

OK, let me do some testing of this and see if I can find the problem, and hopefully a resolution too.
