Trying to transfer bookmarks to new computer
« on: November 16, 2006, 02:35:56 PM »
I have copied the preference files and folders many times. The bookmark files are in the bookmarks folder, but they are not showing up in Bookmarks window.

Where did you copy them to? It should be:

Macintosh HD -> Users -> yourname -> Library -> Preferences

There is the folder named "Yummy FTP" plus a file named "com.yummysoftware.yummy-ftp.plist"

How did you copy them? You should:

Select the Yummy FTP folder in the Finder, select Create Archive from the File menu to create a Yummy FTP.zip file. Copy this file to your new computer and unpack it by double clicking it. The .plist file can be copied without zipping first.

Thanks, that did it. The funny thing is that I FTP'd the folder and I guess that corrupted it.

Some of Yummy's files contain Mac-specific meta data which gets lost during a standard FTP transfer, because FTP wasn't designed to handle it. That's why you need to zip the folder first, to preserve that special data.
