Schedule an upload, example middle of the night
« on: December 08, 2006, 12:44:19 PM »
Is there a way to schedule certain files to upload to the ftp server in the middle of the night, less traffic, and give a comformation that it was successful?

Thanks

Since you emailed me with the same question, I'll post my response:

Yes, Yummy can do this.

You'll need to install the Growl notification system, which Yummy FTP interfaces to: http://www.growl.info
Once installed, the Growl notifications can be set up for a completed upload, either using a window on-screen or an email

In Yummy:

• Select 'Show Queue Drawer' from the View menu
• Drag the files/folders to upload to the Queue at the bottom of the Browser window
• Select all the items in the Queue and then click the Clock icon in the top right of the Queue Drawer. This will allow you to specify the time to upload

Does that mean Yummy needs to maintain a connection to the server continuously? Or will growl allow the app to connect to the server, transfer the file and then quit?

Yummy must remain running and the server Browser window which has the scheduled upload attached to it must remain open, but a connection to the server needn't be maintained - Yummy will automatically re-connect at the scheduled upload time.

Growl doesn't control Yummy in any way - it's just a notification system. When the upload completes, a Growl notification is fired off by Yummy.

Ah, MUCH better! Actually, I thought that if you disconnected from the server, your server browser window would also go away. Boy, you software guys are quite clever!
