File transfer

Greetings,

Very new to managing my wife's yoga website. Trying to transfer files - following all the directions correctly (I believe) but not having any success.

Open Yummy - chose file - choose Quickedit - Edit text - click save button - transfer file - click refresh button - open website - refresh - open page - same old thing??

Is it operator error?

Hi,

Is a file of the same name in the destination directory for the upload to the server? By default, you should be asked whether to replace a file of the same name when you start the upload if this is the case, but I assume you aren't getting that message. So, either you need to change directories on the server to where the file should be uploaded, or you have a sub folder selected on the server side and the file is being uploaded to that sub folder. In the latter case, de-select the sub folder.

Of course, you can also edit the file directly on the server, if it's any easier.

There are other files of the same name in other folders.

I did Quickedit of the file in the server window. It was transferred successfully. I open the site to the old text still?

If there are several files of the same name (probably index.html ?) in various folders on the server, I can't possibly tell you which is the right one. You'll have to try each one in turn, I think. It sounds like you're editing the wrong file.

The only other thing I can suggest is that your web browser is showing you a cached version of your website. In Safari, for example, you can select 'Empty Cache' from the Safari menu. I would suggest quitting and restarting Safari after using that option.

Another possibility is that your ISP uses an web cache server and that server didn't yet update with a copy of your newly changed web site. But I think it's more likely to be one of the first two options.

To conclude this thread, I connected to Rob's server. The problem is that the site is entirely Flash based, and Safari is caching the content. The only way changes can be seen is to 1) select the Empty Cache option in Safari, 2) Quit Sarari, 3) Re-launch Safari 4) Revisit the web site. This causes all the Flash content to be re-fetched from the server.
