new features
« on: April 17, 2007, 03:55:26 PM »
Is there a place I'm missing where the new features are described in some detail (beyond a simple listing)?  I'm asking not just for the new 1.6 upgrade but in general.  I have the feeling I'm not taking full advantage of the increased functionality of YFTP because I don't always know what the new features can do for me.

Not at the moment, but I am working on it. I would hope that most things should be self explanatory, but in the absence of formal documentaion, if there's something in particular that you need help with, I'm right here ready to help.

I am also wondering what is new in 1.6.  Is it just bug fixes?  I cant see anything new.

Start Yummy FTP and in the Help Menubar Item go to Read Me and scroll down to the Version History.  :)

Found it. Wonderful!

Thanks for the ability to check when a file is already being edited. This is great!

Thanks for the update!

It would be nice if the changelog was posted someplace on the site or here in the forums. For those of use that got Yummy via MacAppADay we would like to see the changes before purchasing the upgrade to the latest version.

Could someone that has version 1.6 installed please post the version history here.

Thanks

The full list of changes is listed in the Read Me which can be viewed by selecting Read Me from the Help menu within Yummy FTP. Of course you'll have to download and install Yummy FTP 1.6 to do this, but make sure you don't overwrite your existing MacAppADay version.

Here is a brief summary:

Turbo-charged Transfers - fastest ever batch transfers when using the new recursive mode
Bandwidth Control - to specify maximum upload and download speed
Self-Contained FTP Aliases - give them to your clients as a free, easy-to-use upload tool
Color Labels - apply Finder-style labels on your Mac files and server too
Exclude From Synch/Transfer - context menu option to allow easy and precise exclusions
Automatic Software Update - get automatic update notifications and self-installs
Dock Menu - connect to your favorite servers right from the Dock

There are lots of other smaller enhancements and tweaks, not to mention the usual round of bug fixes.

Sounds good,  How does one go about purchasing the upgrade from the MacAppADay version?

Simply install the 1.6 version then select 'Purchase Online' from the Yummy FTP menu. Enter MAADUPGRADE into the Coupon Code box when placing your order - this will upgrade your Mac App A Day version for just $10

Attempting to purchase, however when selecting PayPal as the payment method and entering submit, it says loading for a while then nothing, stays on the same screen.

Hmm, that's odd. I'll notify the eSellerate people about it.

Thanks!
