Not saving password
« on: August 09, 2007, 08:43:19 PM »
Hi, Yummy isn't saving my password for my sites, forcing me to type them in every time despite the checkbox being checked.

I've read three other threads on keychain vs bookmarks etc.  A lot of detail with quite a few use cases...is there a bottom line to how I get this working?

Thanks!

Normally, this 'just works'.

So, it sounds like the Keychain might be corrupted. Try the Repair option in Keychain Access.

Thanks...just tried "Keychain First Aid" and it reported no errors.

Any other suggestions?

Odd. I've never heard of such a problem before.

Like I said - the Keychain access 'just works' normally and I have no control over it, so if it's not working there must be an OS-level problem.

I can only suggest maybe restarting your Mac might clear the problem. Otherwise try moving the keychain file out of the Keychains folder out in your Library folder (stored in Mac HD -> Users -> yourname -> Library) then restart and see if there is any improvement.

... another thing - you could see if there any entries in Keychain Access for the server(s) you can't save passwords for, and remove only those entries, then try again.

The only other option if Keychain doesn't want to play, is to have Yummy store the passwords in the Bookmarks themselves - they're encrypted, so don't worry about that. To do this, simply disable the 'Store passwords in Keychain' option in the Server Options panel of the Preferences

Let me know how you get on.

I deleted all the Keychain entries for that server to start from scratch. No luck.

So I saved a bookmark, turned on the bookmark window upon launch and everything is working well.

Thanks.

Oh! So you were using the New Connection window all along? I didn't realize that... I'm sorry, I assumed you were using a Bookmark already.

However, I would expect that having selected the checkbox 'Add to keychain' that the password would indeed be saved to the Keychain. Testing that here seems to behave as expected, so I'm not sure why it wasn't working for you. Also, since the Bookmark and New Connection windows access the Keychain identically to fetch the password, I can't explain why the Bookmark is working where the New Connection window isn't... I will investigate

Still, I'm happy that you now have a working solution. Thanks for posting back :)

Yes, it's working well.

Thank you for making Yummy. It's just really well-designed software.
