Works well! You have to add your main editor to the list of alternative editors (which seems a bit odd), but once done, the system works well. Exercises the little finger as well.

(BTW, what has happened to smileys? On my system they have all been replaced by words, even the ones just above this edit box. Or is it just me?)

The Edit With list is meant to be a list of alternative editors, which is why the default editor isn't listed. The default editor has a keyboard shortcut all of its own. In any case, great to hear it's working well for you!

The smileys seem to work fine for me...  :) ;) :D ;D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(  .... anybody else have a problem?

Yes, that's true. Thanks.

Still no smileys. Is it my settings? I can't see any settings that are relevant, except that below under "additional options" as I write this: but the "don't use smileys" is not selected.

Odd. Maybe Something Bad™ is cached in your browser? If you're using Safari, select 'Empty Cache' from the Safari menu, quit Safari and restart it. Other browsers have similar options.

Ah! Problem solved. Smileys are back. It was Firefox: About a week ago I (yes, my fault!) had turned on "Load images, for the originating website only" in order to cut down on advertising content. I see that the smileys come from www.yummyftp.com rather than www.yummysoftware.com, hence the non-load.

Thanks anyway. Sorry about the off-topic. Cheers.

Ah... ok now I understand. I'll see if I can fix that up on my end. Thanks for the info!

I want to have the application that is associated with each file type in my system be listed in the contextual menu, with a global preference option to use it as the default. This would allow me to work more in Yummy browser on local files  without leaving to use the Finder window browsers. Transmit does this. I don't like having to navigate to choose an app for every file type.

I also want to have a preference option to double click on an item to open in a default associated editor for that file type.

Thanks for the suggestion - I'll take a look at that. From my own use, however, I've always found the Open With ... option in Finder (and Transmit) to be cumbersome because it takes a long time to find all the possible apps and then displays a huge list. Maybe it's just me.

There is already a double-click to edit option in the Preferences:

Preferences -> Interface -> Double click action

How about a cascading menu (as Transmit does), or a menu item which opens a dialog.

Thanks for the tip on the double click action.

I couldn't see any cascading. For example, when a .png was selected I got one huge menu after a few seconds delay. Could you post a screen shot of what you see?

Thanks!
