compare folders
« on: January 26, 2008, 04:38:12 PM »
Yummy ftp is the best piece of ftp/sftp software for mac os. I've been using winscp and there is only one thing I'm missing from winscp. I would like to see one simple shortcut which would compare server and mac folders (without subfolders, only open ones) and mark files that are newer so you could quickly upload changed files.

Thanks bananica!

There is already the option to exclude sub folders using the checkbox within the Synch setup window, although I'm not sure this is what you mean. You want a selection sensitive synch?

Certainly some interesting ideas. Thanks for the feedback :)

Hi! I'm aware of synchronize option, but it takes too many steps for me, compare option is not just fast it also selects files which are newer in both panels so you could quickly see the differences on server and on your local computer. Since we're mentioning synchronize it would be nice option to have it automaticly select "update mac" or "update server" based on which panel is currently active, if right/server panel is active than it would select "update mac" for example. Don't get me wrong, yummy is great, in many ways it is better than winscp and I already bought it :)

I see what you mean. I'll add it to my To Do list.

About the automatic update server/mac selection, Yummy actually remembers the last synch choice made right now. Changing it to adjust direction depending on which list is selected might end up causing some users to perform the wrong sync by mistake. I see your point, and you're probably right, but changing it now might cause trouble.
