newbie cannot upload website successfully
« on: February 03, 2008, 05:50:16 PM »
I have been working on this since early december. I have built my website using iweb. ( I initally used cyberduck)I have sucessfully loaded it onto my server once. I put it in the wrong file. mind you, but the host moved it to the correct file.  Since then, I have tried to update the site, by making my updates in iweb, then  clicking on "publish to folder" which is a folder I have on my desk top. Then uploading the whole shebang from the folder.  I have not met with any success. Yesterday I switched to Yummy and that seemed to be much better. It actully asked me if I wanted to overwrite files that were already uploaded... something that cyberduck never did.
Unfortunately I still don't have a complete website when I click on it-  www.dufferin4-h.ca  -in my browser ... some pictures are missing and I just cannot figure this out.
any advise? I am a real newbie, I know that, but I am at my wits end, here. :'(

Unfortunately, iWeb's design means that when you re-publish your website after changes it creates every single file again from scratch. This means that the only reliable way to get your site updated is to completely replace it - that is, delete what you previously uploaded and then upload the new version.
