"the file to be transferred already exists in the desitination"
« on: November 05, 2008, 01:30:41 PM »
 ???
Bought a new IMac yesterday.  Transferred everything from old mac to new mac and am now trying to upload photos to my website.
All info is correct, I checked double checked and triple checked...why is it giving me this message?

"the file to be transferred already exists in the destination"
The skip button is grayed out as well as Resume, I can click cancel and it brings me back to where I log in.  If i click the replace button it gives me this...

"Yummy FTP could not continue because the specified server path could not be determined
Check your server details and try again"

Then gives me the retry or cancel option...its an endless cycle...HELP! :-\

This means that there is a file on the server with the same name as a  file you are trying to upload.

The Skip button is grayed out because there no other files to transfer, so there is nothing to skip to.

The Resume button is grayed out because the file with the same name on the server has the same or greater size as the file you are trying to upload, so it's not possible to resume.

Canel will abort the transfer and the server directory will be displayed. This is all normal so far.

This is a bit odd. Please repeat this, then select 'Save FTP Transcript' from the File menu and send the resulting file to me via email : support at yummysoftware dot com

OK the first part
"the file to be transferred already exists in the destination"
I havent even started transferring anything yet...I was merely logging on...when I try to log on THAT is the message I get and that is how I am getting everything else.
So why am I getting that first message during my log on?

Ah, ok now it makes sense... sorry for the confusion.

You're Initial Path setting is incorrect. It is set to point to a directory on your server which does not exist.

If you are using the New Connection window to initiate your connection, empty out the Initial Path box and try again.

If you have your server configured as a Bookmark, do the following:

1. Select Show All Boookmarks from the Bookmarks menu
2. Select your Bookmark from the list shown
3. Click the Edit toolbar icon
4. Empty out the Initial Path box
5. Click Save
6. Re-Connect
