Beginner Problem
« on: March 03, 2009, 03:16:53 PM »
I'm new to all this HTML stuff so you might have to talk to me like a little kid.  I just put together a practice HTML document.  I've seen it in my browser and it's good to go.  I downloaded Yummy as my FTP.  Then I put the HTML document into Yummy, and was looking to upload it to my domain from there, but I have no idea what the next step is.  The file is on the right side of the FTP browser, but nothing shows up on my website.  Just wondering what I need to press?  Thanks.

Your first web site page must be named index.html (or in some cases index.htm) , so click into its name in the right side of the FTP browser and rename it.

If that isn't enough for the page contents to show up at your website, then you probably need to put the file into a special place - usually there is a folder named www or web, for example. I can't tell you where exactly to put it because it varies from one web site to another, but your web hosting provider should be able to answer this as well as any other questions you might have relating to the website.
