Permissions problem with bookmarks and favourites
« on: June 13, 2017, 08:29:36 AM »
I recently had to manually move my MacOS User Account to another installation. I successfully brought over my Yummy FTP bookmarks but I can't delete them. I'm guessing something is wrong with the permissions but I can't work out what.

If I go Reveal in Finder I can delete them then but only after entering the Administrator password.

The other symptom of this issue is that, when I make a favourite, I can't delete it though I can delete bookmarks made since the move.

What permissions are needed on the preferences folders?

many thanks for any help.

Probably you used a different macOS user account name, so the owner (at the Unix level) doesn't match. You can fix this in Terminal app if you're happy with using the command line, or you can select the Yummy FTP parent folder of the Bookmarks folder in the Finder, choose Info from the File menu then adjust the Owner & Permissions at the bottom of the window. Make sure to apply to enclosed items too.
