Hi,
I have just bought and downloaded the last version of YummyFTP. I have in the pas used Cyberduck and the tial version of Transmit, but Yummy does not seem to be able to import my favorites from none of them. I have even tried to give the import box the folder where CyberDuck stores its favorites. I end up with an "Imported bookmarks" folder, but it is empty.
This experience is very strange since all the softs I have tried (including ForkLift) have been able to import the favorites from other ones. This is the first time I meet this problem.
I open the Favorites panel in Yummy and click on the "Import" button, but I only get empty folders :-(
Am I doing something stupid?

Definitely this function was working 100% but testing it just now it seems that newer versions of CyberDuck have a different favorite format. I will update the importer for the next beta release which is due out shortly. Sorry for the trouble!
Testing with the latest version of Transmit, it seems to work for me, but I will still test all the importers thoroughly after fixing the CyberDuck one.
-
Interesting...
I just tried again with the latest beta and it imported everything perfectly.
I will send you the beta link.
-
Thank you JD,
I will check the beta. I had the same problem with Transmit too (The trial version of Transmit is installed in the /Applications folder) , isn't it strange?
-
OK,
I have downloaded the last beta (1.8.3b6) after having unchecked the ignore betas box in update preferences.
Unfortunately, my imported bookmarks folder remains desperately empty. I have both tired the automatic import (with all clients checked), and the indication of the CyberDuck's bookmark folder. In the first case, I have ended with a bunch of empty folders, one for each client indicated in the import menu (it is strange to create these folders even if I do not have these clients on my MacBookPro), in the second case, only one folder has been created but it was also empty.
SO the beta does not seem to solve my problem.

Yes, it's strange that Transmit can also not import the favourites. Maybe it's a permissions issue?
In case it makes any difference try :
1. Start CyberDuck
2. Connect to a favourite then close it
3. Quit CyberDuck
4. Delete all the Bookmarks in Yummy, then select Import but uncheck everything but CyberDuck.
If that doesn't work, could you send me your CyberDuck favourites.plist? Don't worry ... the passwords are in your Keychain so I can't possibly connect.

I have followed this procedure and it has not changed anything.
Moreover, my CyberDuck bookmarks are in the following folder: /Users/myildi/Library/Application Support/Cyberduck/Bookmarks and not in a plist, as far as I can see. I have one XML file per bookmark in this folder, with and extension .duck. Where is the .plist file ?
I have looked in the preferences folder but I do not see any file or folder for CberDuck there (neither for Transmit by the way).
-
Ok, for the CyberDuck problem, now I see it...
The new format favorites .duck files are only created for new installations. My old copy of CyberDuck that has been upgraded to the latest version still has the Favorites.plist file that CyberDuck used for years previously. I guess the new version is backwards compatible.
SO, removing my installation completely, including the CyberDuck folder in Application Support forced the new format to take effect.
I will add support for the new format in next build - it looks very easy :)
I'm still checking out Transmit. It's still working for me, but I'll post an update as soon as I have anything.
-
Thanks a lot! In the mean time, I will recreate my bookmarks in YummyFtp. I do not have hundreds of them, so it should not take too much time. If you can quickly find a way to import Transmit bookmarks (I have only tested the last version Transmit and I ignore where it saves its bookmarks), I would be happy to hear it.

By any chance since the last post you guys fixed this? It seems that the 1.8.2 i just bought cannot import my Cyberduck preferites and I've dozen of FTP sites :(
-
Yes, v1.8.3 is released next week and fixes that :)
In the meantime just use the latest beta, by un-checking 'Ignore betas' in the Software Update panel of the Preferences, Save then select Check For Updates from the Yummy FTP menu.
The beta is practically the same as the final release, but not quite, so please make sure to update next week - Yummy automatically checks for you daily.
-
WOWO thanks for the quickest answer.
Unfortunately even using the latest beta as suggested in a previous thread and some while ago, when I point to the ~/Application Support/Cyberduck folder the imported items are shown but without anything inside.
any idea? Am I selecting the wrong folder?
-
BTW, a small bug. If I ask Yummy to look through all the Application Support folder, the software hangs. Perhaps checking which folder has been selected may prevent this.

Open the Bookmarks window, click the Import icon, uncheck all but CyberDuck.
The folder import option is for importing Yummy Bookmark files.

Hardly a bug... you asked Yummy to recursively import from the chosen folder not really understanding what the function did, and in this case there will be lots of potentially importable files that Yummy will dutifully try to import. And it would appear that it has choked on an unknown file.
-
Ah damn ... this is clear now. Well, I guess you should change the layout or make it clear that users don't have to press on the select forlder as well.
-
Yep, I'd agree with that :)
-
Import bookmarks completely fails here. I get an empty "Transmit" folder" - nothing in it.
Transmit 4.1.4
Yummy FTP 1.8.4
Could you suggest something please?
thanks,
Ric Zito

I'll take a look.
The import was coded for Transmit 2 and Transmit 3. I guess they changed their Favorites format yet again... :(
-
Ah, problem solved in the next update of Yummy FTP ;)
