Title: Saving Password and having it update Post by: robertcox on August 31, 2006, 12:37:01 AM I recently found out that you could save the password in the keychain if you use a bookmark. Whilst that is ok, when ichanged my password, I then thought that Keychain would popup and ask me to verify that my password had changed. I would like there to me more seemlessness (if that is a word) with passwords and updating passwords.
Incase this makes a difference, the password was changed via the Macintosh front end, but it changed the Active Directory password. The password I have stored would be an Active Directory password to the server and thus it might not realise that it is the same password. Title: Re: Saving Password and having it update Post by: JD on August 31, 2006, 07:18:06 AM Passwords are stored in the keychain by default since v1.5. Previous versions stored them in the encrypted Bookmark file for each server - keychain storage was optional.
The 'Macintosh front end' you refer to - is that the KeyChain Access application? If so, your request/suggestion should be sent to Apple since they are the only ones that can make alterations to that software. At the moment, though, it's not going to be possible to tie together the changing of, for example, an Active Directory password and an FTP server password. They are two entirely different settings and there is no way to 'just know' that they happen to be the same password. I'm not even sure that it would be desirable behavior for the majority of people. On the other hand, I may have completely misunderstood what you're after...
