Hi,
I would like to know what I am doing wrong :-) I am trying to have FTP watcher download new files from a FTP server to my local desktop.
The files that are downloaded is reviewed by me, and once I have done that I would like to delete that file from my local desktop, but LEAVE it on the server (for someone else to download and review)
The problem is, that every time I delete a file or a folder, Yummy FTP watcher redownloads that file.
I have tried both Sync and download, but there is no difference. I fact I cannot seem to understand what the difference is between those to options?
So in a nutshell. I was hoping to have new files downloaded, leave the file on the server, and still be able to delete or move the downloaded files around locally, withou having FTP watcher redownload them...
Thanks for your help

There are several differences between the Sync-Download and Auto-Download Watcher, but unfortunately both methods (currently) require that the files are not deleted or moved locally, or they will be re-downloaded. I'll adjust Auto-Download to break this requirement, but I don't have an ETA on that, sorry!

Ok, I see
No ETA sounds like a very long time :-(
I thought perhaps I could use the Time feature to somehow tell the Watcher to ignore files older than [last sync time] or something like that. Cant figure it out though.
And also igoring the file date on the server and use the time the file was added to the server instead. (im not sure Im making sence :-))
Anyway, I have been searching for a description of the differences between Sync and download. But have not found it.
Can you explain that to me? Or point to a description somewhere?
Thanks for your fast reply

It could be a long wait, yes.
BUT the 'filter-by-time' idea is definitely possible, maybe it's all you need (for now) :
1. Select your Watcher in the Status window and click the Edit toolbar icon
2. Click the Check Connection button - wait for the FTP Browser to appear
3. From the Listing menu choose Filters - configure as required to ignore files older than X time then click Apply
4. Click Choose to set the Local / Remote folders and newly configured filters
5. Click Save to the Watcher
Does that do the trick for you?
EDIT: I'll go through the sync options with you if this doesn't work, but I'm certain it will :)

;D
I think it works, thanks a lot!
I won't know for sure until new Items to review arrives on the server, but at least it stopped redownloading the old files after I deleted them locally.
I guess there still is a risk, that new files could be marked as "too old" before it has been downloaded. Depending on how long time I set in the filters. But since my download speed can be kind of flaky and I dont always know when to expect new files appear on the server I have made a "best guess"
But, let me ask you...
Lets say I have a watcher that runs every 1 hour, and I have set to ignore filter to ignore files older than 5 hours
When a Watcher has found new files to be downloaded, lets say 2 new files.
And the first file takes 6 hours to be downloaded
will I "miss" the second file, or does the filter not take effect once the files are in the download queue ?
Bonus question... If the watcher is set to run every 1 hour, but the download takes 6 hours, does the watcher even run a new scan before the first is finished downloading?
Thanks for your quick reply and eagerly trying to help. Much appreciated!!!

I think it should work. Once a watcher is scanning/transferring it won't run again, even if it's due to sync/transfer again, if there is already one instance of it running.
You might be better off ignore items more than 1 day old and simply empty your download folder manually once at the start of each day.
