Title: Saving Passwords
Post by: mrt on December 17, 2014, 03:10:06 AM
Hello,

for security reasons I cannot / don't want to store FTP Passwords within my Yummy Bookmarks. How can I do this?
At the time I was only able to store bookmarks wich are connected -> saved with password.

Regards

By default, passwords are not stored in the Yummy FTP Bookmarks... they are stored separately (and securely) in the Apple Keychain. Unless you specifically turned that option off?

Thanks JD for your answer.

Cannot find any Yummy or FTP Data in Apple Keychain App.
In the bkmk file I cannot read it.
Anyhow don't want (and I'm not allwoed to) store FTP passes in the FTP app and not in Apples Keychain.

So my question again: Is there is an option not to store FTP passwords, so I have to type it on every login?

Regards

Not directly an option, but just leave the password blank in the Bookmark. When you go to connect it will prompt for the password (presuming it is not in the Keychain).

That would be great.. but sadly this don't work for me:

Going to Bookmarks -> show all -> edit the entry -> clean the password -> press save.
Pressing Edit the entry again -> password is still there.

Does it work in your environment?

You need to delete the entry in your Keychain or Yummy will keep finding it and auto-fill the setting.

Thanks again for your answer, but as said I have no entry in Apple Keychain using the search on "all objects".

Strange, because I can only reproduce the issue you describe if I do have a matching entry. Please double check that - you should look in the Passwords section for entries with your server Name or IP Address and delete them.

In addition, turn off the 'Store passwords in Keychain' option in the Interface panel of the Yummy FTP Preferences. Then we can be sure Keychain is not being used, and also when this option is off then Yummy stores any entered password into the Bookmark file itself. So if you empty the password it will definitely be empty in the Bookmark.

Yippee. Don't know what it was exactly, but now it works fine. Thank you. Will use your App from now on.
