Title: Newbie Q: How to follow symbolic links???
Post by: rollatwork on April 19, 2006, 12:23:48 PM
I am comparing transmit and yummy based on the article SystemBoy wrote.

Was wondering, I've logged into an FTP server with symbolic links... how do I follow these?  On Filezilla and Fetch I don't have to do much, just dbl-click away...

Thanks,
Roll

You should be able to double click them in Yummy FTP also.

Are the links appearing as folder alias icons? (a folder with a small north-west-pointing arrow at the bottom left)

If not then it might be that the server isn't reporting the link resolution correctly when Yummy tries to resolve them, and so Yummy assumes they are files, based on the server response. You can avoid this problem by disabling the 'Resolve symlinks' checkbox in the Server Options tab of the Preferences.

Let me know how you go.

That was the ticket, thanks!

+1 for having a forum too.  Transmit definitley loses points IMO for not providing one.
