Title: MobileMe Bookmark Sync - Or at least Dropbox support!
Post by: organik on July 24, 2009, 06:02:56 PM
The one missing feature.  A necessity IMO.  Just bought Yummy FTP and it is hands down the best ftp client for mac.  Thanks so much!

You can use Yummy with dropbox already...

Sorry for any delay in my reply, but I am currently abroad on vacation.

Thank you for your lovely remarks! :)

Yes, obfuscode is right. The latest beta includes DropBox as well as iDisk syncing, but not direct MobileMe sync services. Of the two I would recommend DropBox as being the far more reliable option. iDisk syncing requires a good, fast, always on connection otherwise you can get hangs.

The lates beta can be downloaded here:

How does this work exactly?  Downloaded and installed the beta, I don't see a pref for bookmark location anywhere, and doing it the normal dropbox way, with symlinks isn't working either.

It's described in the link that obfuscode included above, but it's just in a narrative so it's kinda buried. To summarize, you drag your Yummy FTP -> Bookmarks folder to your dropbox, then make an alias there and drag it (the alias) back to your Yummy FTP folder and rename the alias "Bookmarks". Yummy FTP itself will follow the alias, and Dropbox will make sure the data is synched to whatever machines use that same Dropbox account. I put my Bookmarks folder within a sub-folder of my Dropbox so that I know what application it goes with (since the name "Bookmarks" would otherwise be pretty generic at the top-level of my Dropbox).

Fantastic!  Thanks so much.  Yeah, I admit I read through that thread pretty quickly.  Works great.

I was able to use an alias to move by bookmarks to my dropbox, but there's still some strange behavior.

When right-clicking the Yummy icon on the dock, I can navigate my bookmarks and connect to a FTP server.  However, when using the "show all bookmarks" command, the window is blank.

Any idea how I can fix this?

I think you might be hitting up against a bug with the scrollbar in the Bookmarks window. This is fixed in the latest build, but I didn't release that yet.

See if there is a vertical scrollbar set - the Bookmarks will be scrolled right out of view.

Alternatively, quit Yummy, paste the following to your Terminal, then restart Yummy:

defaults write com.yummysoftware.yummy-ftp BookmarkViewerVScrollValue -int 0

This resets the scrollbar value
