Title: Problem Connecting Through SFTP
Post by: endtro on January 05, 2010, 03:51:28 PM
I have a strange problem.  When I try to connect to my server via SFTP, I get an error:

Quote
Message from server:
subsystem request failed on channel 0

I read in another thread (http://www.yummysoftware.com/forum/index.php/topic,689.0.html) that this means there might be a problem with SFTP on the server.  I know that can't be true since I can connect with FileZilla, though I am having troubles with virtually every other FTP client I try.  I've pushed many gigabytes up and down through FileZilla with no problems, but I can't get YummyFTP to work.  Does anyone have an idea on what might be causing this?  Are there any settings that I can tweak in YFTP preferences?

Thank you,
endtro

Are you sure FileZilla isn't perhaps falling back to plain FTP?

Can you connect using the Terminal sftp command? (eg sftp username@yourserverdomainname.com)

I get the same error when I try to connect through terminal (subsystem request failed on channel 0).  Does this mean that FileZilla has been falling back to FTP even though it claims to be connecting and transferring files via SFTP?

Possibly. Would you be able to let me make a test connection myself? If so, please send connection details to support at yummysoftware dot com
