Yummy FTP / Yummy FTP Talk / Re: I LOVE YUMMIE ... but what is that droplet icon?

So at many of the restaurants I go to, if it is one that expects you to 'bus your own table', they have a black heavy-duty plastic 'bus tub' on top of a cart at the edge of the room somewhere where you put your dishes into when you're done with your meal. ... So, neither of you have ever seen what I'm talking about? Hmm! Oh. Right. Okay. Yeh, I've seen that before, I just didn't know it had a name. =)

While it does make a lot more sense within the Yummy theme than the 'out tray' I currently have, I have to admit - I've never heard of a 'dish bus tub'. Maybe it's an American thing? I've not either, and I was born and raised in the States. Perhaps it's a regional/state-specific thing. =)

I'm all about options and can't imagine trying to dissuade you from adding one. I've no problem with an option for this, but to answer your question, no, I've not noticed that the current default is any great inconvenience.

spacific, your adamant objection to this request is what mystifies me. Nobody is suggesting that passwords be visible by default. A row of stars may not bother *you*, but it bothers *me*. Users have different needs and different ways of using an application. I neither require nor want the security offered by replacing my passwords with asterisks, so if I want the option of making them plainly visible, I fail to see why I should be inconvenienced by having to launch a separate application to look up a particular password. It's not about being able to "easily find" a password when I "really need to," it's about wanting to see my passwords like I see any other field.

Yummy FTP / Feedback & Suggestions / Re: Two Requests: Browse History mod and toolbar icons
|

There seems to be some confusion (mine?) here between status bar (which is at the top, and can be hidden) and the "status area" at the bottom where various messages flash up briefly. The trash icon is not in the status bar. My fault. The status area at the bottom of the window is the area to which I was referring. Mail, web browers, every other application I've used that displays information there calls that space the status bar. I was incorrectly using the terms interchangeably for Yummy, calling the status space on top of the window precisely... nothing. =) [Edit] Well, I've just read Jason's response and realised that I'm calling the top space nothing because I'm not seeing it. I'm not completely daft, then. =)

Well, since you asked... =)
I agree that a status bar is necessary, but it doesn't make sense to me to have a trash there. From a usability perspective, it makes more sense to not differentiate it from other file operations, i.e. File > Edit, File > Edit with..., File > Delete. Using this logic, it makes more sense for me to have the trash icon up by my textmate icon in the toolbar. (Ya, I know I can already do that, but no point having two.) And then, once that bottom trash is removed, that status area can more closely resemble the status bar of many other applications: a single line of information.
Note: I'm not suggesting changing its look. I like the inner bevel and the different colour, it's pretty. It shouldn't resemble other apps in that sense. I'd just make it narrower.

Ya. Seriously, people. A tenner is a *ridiculous* bargain for this incredible software. Even if the application couldn't stand up against its competitors on its own merit (it can), it'd be worth it just because it's backed by Jason. You'll have a hard time finding another developer who single-handedly provides such prompt. courteous and thorough support, while being continually receptive to user feedback.

I very much doubt that you have a PRET-enabled server.
After skimming the content at that site, I'd have to say that I also very much doubt it. Sorry I couldn't be of any help, and good luck. =]

Yummy FTP / Yummy FTP Talk / Re: Remote Editing

cheezylu, when you go to Yummy's Preferences and click on Server Options, in the Remote editing section, there's an option that lets you decide when edited files will be uploaded. Do you have that set to "When saved" or "When closed"? If it's the latter, perhaps that's why you're not seeing the update as soon as you save?
Just another thing to check.
On another note... Jason, it looks like there are two spaced between "Remote" and "editing" on that screen, instead of just one. Just thought I'd bring it to your attention. =]

It absolutely performs authentication first. 1P creates its own keychain, which must be unlocked before it can be used. My configuration is such that I have to do this only once: directly after restarting the computer. (It can also be locked automatically upon application exit or X minutes of keychain inactivity.) There is a tickbox called "conceal passwords," and I can tick/untick it at will. I leave it unticked, which displays my passwords without having to do anything further.
