1  Yummy FTP / Problems & Bugs / .DS_Store? on: July 12, 2006, 09:45:02 AM
Hi there.

In the preferences, under "divers" (french system...sorry...don't know the english name you used), there is a check box to include invisible files, which I have checked.  Then one that says (translated) "...and upload .DS_Store files", which I have unchecked.

If I understand the prefs right, having that unchecked means I *don't* want those files transferred, right?  However, each time I try to do a 'synchronize', it includes all the .DS_Store files in the list.  Is this the expected behavior?  Is there a way to make Yummy FTP ignore these files completely?

I wanted to point something else out about this, by the way.  You said you wanted to avoid "fake data generation", but it is not only Transmit that behaves in this manner...the Finder behaves in this way as well when you follow symbolic links created at the command line.  It keeps oyu in the path you are in, regardless of where in your folder structure the symbolic link is pointing to.

If the Finder does it, it seems to me it's not going to annoy people.   Smiley

Hi there.

I hope this makes sense.  I am a web developer who works on many web sites at once.  I base all my sites on a common codebase.  So, on my local machine, I have several domains replicated, each with its own root directory in /Library/WebServer/Documents

Inside each one, there is a 'shared' folder, which is really a symbolic link to another directory on the filesystem, so that I can update the core classes in one place and have them updated across all sites.

The thing is, when I follow the link in Yummy FTP, like when I need to update one of those files on the remote server, Yummy FTP doesn't keep that in the path it was in; rather, it updates its pulldown menu at the top to reflect the actual path,

Transmit maintains the 'relative' location, which I think makes more sense for an FTP program, because we need to upload files en masse relative to a root directory on the source machine.

Does this make sense to anyone?

My desired behavior would be that Yummy FTP maintained the 'fake' path in its pulldown menu (and also for AutoRoute functionality), rather than resetting itself to the master directory if the link is double-clicked.

Great program, btw...I'm enjoying using it.  I think you''ve made me jump ship from Transmit.

Thanks a lot.  You might as well bundle some AppleScripts like this with the download; some people sould find it useful.  I'm a coder, but not an AppleScripter, so though I'd have figured this out, I just thought someone else would have already done it.

Anyway, I have been a Web developer for 11 years now...I use this stuff on a daily basis.  I am still using the demo, but I didn't think anything would ever make me switch from Transmit.  I'm still evaluating it, but I think this just might do it.  I noticed Transmit sucking more CPU than I thought it needed to on occasion, and this AutoRoute feature is something I thought about years ago, but never saw anyone build until now.

Good work...I dare say this software might just kick ass.

Hi there.  It's mentioned in the product features that a script could be written to reside in BBEdit's scripts menu to send the currently edited file to Yummy FTP and have it upload via the autoroute feature.

I just wanted to check if anyone else has already written this script...what an amazing time saver this feature would be for me, since I am editing and uploading files all day long, on various web servers...

Cheers!
