License Expiration
« on: September 17, 2007, 03:11:13 AM »
How long is one purchase of a single user license is good for?  I opened my application this evening and I'm unable to use it for some reason.  I have updated several times with no problems?  Does anyone have an idea of what's happened.  Any legit response would be greatly appreciated.

The license doesn't expire. You might need to re-enter your Name and Serial Number if, for example, you re-installed your OS or moved computers. There are other situations where this can happen too, but it's not catastrophic - just enter your Name and Serial Number to reset it.

I have sent your registration details via email so that you can re-enter them.

I also replied to your emails to Sales and to Support too.

It's v1.10 the first paid upgrade in 10 years :)

Encountering this issue today myself. Long-time user, paid & registered; was surprised at launch to see a "trial period is over" message. I located the confirmation / registration e-mail from when I originally purchased the software, but when trying to use the "Enter Serial Number" option presented by the dialogue box, the (valid and legitimate) name & SN pair was rejected as invalid.

Have submitted a help request via the website's contact form, but would love to find a way to solve this in a more expedited way if at all possible.

Have been totally satisfied with the software for years, this has really been the only bump in the road -- it just happens to be really untimely. Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: re-reading through this thread, it seems like what's being said is that this issue is being triggered by an upgrade to v1.10, is that correct? If so I'm confused on a few points, primarily whether, in the application's version update prompt, there had been any indication that unlike prior updates, this one was to be paid. (I don't object to the notion of a paid update, of course, but I don't remember there being any such indication, and in my case I would have preferred to hold off for a short time). Do users have the option to roll back to a previous version?

Joshua, I've replied to your email about the same issue, but to answer your questions for others to see:

1. Two separate emails were sent to all registered users about the paid upgrade. If you didn't get them, and your email address didn't change, check your junk mailbox.

2. The built-in update mechanism presented a very comprehensive paid upgrade notification message. See the link below for what was displayed:

http://www.yummysoftware.com/su/

3. The support pages on the website go into more detail about upgrade, and there are also links to all previous versions of all Yummy FTP apps:

http://www.yummysoftware.com/support/product-upgrades/
http://www.yummysoftware.com/support/product-updaters/

In the next update I've made it even clearer. I know that's too late for you, but it should prevent any further confusion for others.
