Hi....I'm new to this

When I make changes and they appear to be correct in the in yummy the changes do not appear on the web site...is it supposed to be immediate......sometimes it seems to happen straight away...or am I making errors trhat I cannot see.

Changes you make to your web site may not appear immediately because web browser applications often cache the site content to give a faster browsing experience for subsequent visits. You need to empty the cache and force the web browser application to re-fetch the web site data.

For Safari, select 'Empty Cache' from the Safari menu, then as a rule of thumb I suggest to quit Safari and re-launch it. Now visit your website and the new content should be there.

Does anyone still support option-reload button to force all files to be fetched from the server? Back when I was doing a LOT of web development, that was THE way...

Hmm that takes me back ... was it in Netscape days? Maybe IE supported it too, but I can't remember now.

Anyway, as far as I can tell, the option key doesn't seem to change anything in Safari's reload option.

Same with Firefox.  Cmd-R: reload, Cmd-Shift-R: reload overriding cache. Also. clicking on the reload icon seems to override the cache as well (for Firefox).

I am really new to this. I can see my files in the yummy window. I can drag and drop files on the server. I dropped an image into a new  folder on the server. Now how do I get it on my site's front page? What comes next?

This is where you need to know about website development and how this whole web site thing works

There isn't really a good answer I can give you because there are too many possibilities. At the most basic level, you might need to adust some html code to refer to your new image file, but you might have a CMS (content management system) which requires changes to a configuration to include the new image instead. Or something else.

All in all, if you have a web site which is important to you and you don't have any knowledge at all regarding web site development, then I strongly suggest hiring someone who does.
