Export Bookmarks
« on: September 24, 2009, 01:02:31 PM »

Is it possible to export bookmarks in YummyFTP for my colleagues that are using Transmit and other FTP apps?

We've tried importing, but Transmit and other apps don't recognize the bookmark format Yummy uses.

No, it isn't. Tell them to use Yummy Smiley

Similarly, while Transmit does have an export facility, the results can only be imported by another copy of Transmit. Transmit favorites used to be readable in v2 but as of v3 they used a proprietary encryption to prevent it. It seems they wanted to put a barrier up to prevent customers defecting to a competitor app...

A suggestion.

You could use the Copy URL feature in Yummy for the login directory of each of your servers, and if you have the 'Export passwords in urls' option checked in the Server Options panel of the Preferences then a fully qualified URL will be created which should be enough for any FTP client to import.

Of course you would need to do this for every Bookmark you wanted to export, and then paste the results into a text file (etc), so it's going to be a problem for a lot of Bookmarks, but it could be a viable solution for you.

Hope that helps... Smiley
