Issue upgrading

I checked first and found the post on upgrading below. I tried that link and had the same issue.

I just bought a new 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 (8GB). I had a trial copy of Yummy on it that got moved over from my old machine. I purchased Yummy and entered the serial number. Yummy appeared to update but the screen moved very fast and I could not tell for sure. I checked the Yummy about and found that it says it has Version 1.7.2. The web site says that the current version is 1.8 and downloading a fresh copy gets 1.8.1.

Dragging the Yummy 1.8.1 app to my Applications folder, I get a message saying there is a newer version installed. I am trying to figure out if the version information is incorrect or if I am just not able to upgrade?

What actually is the version of the one in your Appications folder?
From the Finder type Cmd-Shift-A (or use the Go menu). Find Yummy in that folder, select it and type Cmd-I (or GetInfo from the File menu). The version number will be displayed.

The 1.7.2 version has a bug in its Software Update mechanism when running on Snow Leopard (it's fine in all other versions of the OS) where the update will actually fail. Maybe that's the 'fast screen' you're talking about?

I'm not sure what the 'newer' version might be, but the Finder is simply reporting on the *date & time* of the copy in the Applications folder, not the actual version number. It could be a 1.8.2 beta version, perhaps?

In any case, there is no reason not to drag 1.8.1 into the Application folder and overwrite what's there already. Version 1.8.1 is the current release. There is nothing to stop you upgrading!
