Any Update on Tabs?
« on: February 04, 2010, 10:57:21 AM »

Tabs is probably the biggest thing I believe is missing in the software.  I always have around 4 or 5 FTP windows open throughout the day.  Has there been any progress in this area or a time frame?

Thanks,

Rob

Tabs are coming in v2.0 which features a complete UI overhaul amongst other new features.

I don't have an accurate ETA, just suffice to say - soon.

Soooooooooooo any update on 2.0?  I'm excited.  Alot of other FTP programs are sporting some new, fancy features..which is making Yummy look a bit tired.
Yummy is still the best.

Still under development, I'm afraid.

As noted elsewhere, there have been personal issues which have caused delays in all development.

Out of curiosity, what 'new fancy features' are you talking about?

Hey JD,
Haven't heard whats going on in your life, but whatever it is, I wish you the best.

I checked out the new versions of Forklift and Transmit but they couldn't do it for me.  They both lack in:
-- permissions and Owner/group support when connected via SFTP.
-- flexibility on applying permission owner/group changes (no way to select files or folders).

Yummy has the best SFTP support of any FTP program.
Off the top of my head, here are some ideas:

-- Visual redesign that mimics iTunes more.  Specifically, bookmarks that are accessible through the main app window, not a separate window.
-- More options, flexibility of scheduling transfers.  reporting.  maybe a service that runs in the background vs having to keep the app running.
-- breadcrumbs vs drop-down for browsing depth
-- Tabs
-- column widths that resize automatically
-- easily store/move bookmarks outside of /library/ (so I can keep it in dropbox)
-- conflict resolution where Yummy can somehow tap into the power of BBEdit for conflict resolution, and allow the user to easily and clearly decide on changes.
-- spotlight search that can search the whole ftp site (not even sure if this is possible).

Best wishes!

also, please consider the following functionality:

1.  the two browsing panes should be more flexible -- can be two local directories, or two FTP connections.

Thanks!
