Hidden files not visible on new server
« on: March 31, 2011, 10:38:48 AM »

Hello Jason,

Today my webspace is transferred to a new server.
When I checked a few folders I noticed that my hidden .htaccess files where not transferred, I tried the menu option to  show/hide them  with YummyFTP 1.8.4  but they didn't show up so I thought they where lost in the transfer process.

I informed my service provider about this and he showed me with a screenshot of CyberDuck that the hidden files are transferred fine and visible in CyberDuck's window.

Can you check this out, did I made a mistake when I setup  the connection for the new server, or is it a bug in YummyFTP ?

Best,
Wim

Enable 'Issue LIST-la command' under the Server Browser section of the Interface panel in the Preferences.

Some servers require a special command to be sent in order to show the hidden files. This is one of them.

I don't enable this feature by default because it can cause problems with servers that interpret the command to mean "list only files which have -la in their name" which is not what anyone would expect. It's a bit dangerous of CyberDuck to enable it by default...

Hello Jason,

Thanks for your support.

Your advice to toggle on the 'Issue LIST-la command' did the trick and after the list was refreshed all hidden files (and all other ones ;-) are now visible again.

Best,

You're welcome Smiley

Please note, while you're reading, I didn't forget about your SFTP MacBinary requirement... it's just proving more tricky than I first anticipated.
