Yummy lags when connection is inactive
« on: April 27, 2012, 03:01:10 PM »
Hi, if I open an ftp connection, and then go make a cup of tea, and come back in 5 minutes, and try to upload a file to my remote server, the connection lags badly-like a minute before it reconnects and allows the transfer.
This happens on every server I try it with. If I repeat these steps with other ftp clients, there is no lag. Any idea why this is happening?

It might be due to the number of concurrent connections Yummy uses for transfers by default. Usually this speeds up transfers, but in some cases where the servers are more restrictive this can result with connection rejections, and that slows everything down.

I would suggest setting the Max Connections setting in the Transfers panel of the Preferences to 1 for now and see if the problems go away.

Otherwise, contact me by email (support at yummy software dot com) and send an FTP Transcript after a slowdown and recovery (see the option in the File menu) and this should show me what is happening.

... sorry, I see you said 'inactive'.

I can't' think why that might be at all then. Send me the transcript and I'll see what's going on.
