Yes and no

The original purpose of the change was to fix a definite rendering problem on Chinese systems. It did fix that, but had the side effect of changing the font appearance subtly for non-Chinese systems too, which I didn't mind and actually quite liked.
Unfortunately, the new font renders really badly on non-Chinese systems when the font smoothing size limit was set quite high. And also, the new font is slightly taller, which means less items can be seen in each listing simultaneously.
So, it's best to set the new font only for the target of the original fix : Chinese systems. That's what the new version does, so the original font will come back for non-Chinese systems.
