App Store version cancelled?
« on: November 19, 2012, 01:59:01 PM »
I have the App Store version of Yummy FTP but have been using a beta version for about a month so I can take advantage of Retina support. Well, my beta just expired and there's no App Store version update yet, so I tried the latest version on the website (1.9.1, I think)... and it popped up a message about migrating from the App Store version.

Now $5 to get Alias and Watcher sounds fair, and I'll probably do it because anything that makes development more expedient is worth the cost in my book, but does this mean you are cutting off support for the App Store version?

No, no, not at all! The offer is there for exactly that reason : App Store review times are at an all time high of 3-4 weeks, and several people have written to me with their concerns about that (amongst other things). This is my answer :)

Cool, thanks! I've noticed the extremely lengthy approval times the last couple of months, and can sympathize.

By the way - is there a way to set up Watcher to ignore/exclude certain filenames, directory names, extensions, etc?

It seems like Watcher could be a really handy app, but before I can use it in my workflow I would need to be able to prevent it from uploading files like .svn or .git or wp-config.php (the WordPress database config file)... as well as dev-only directories like nbproject/ (the Netbeans config directory) and _compass/ (my pre-compiled SASS/JS file directory).

You have the same options as you have  in Yummy FTP itself:

1. Filters - global affecting all connections, and per watcher
2. Specific exclusions - selected files/folders are excluded

You can access the global filters from the Filters toolbar icon in the Watchers window. The watcher specific filters and exclusions are set by connecting to your server via the Watcher setup window - click the Select button which brings up the local/server navigator. Specific exclusions are set/unset using right click -> Exclude. Filters are set using the Filters option from the Listing menu.
