Restoring the queue window in 1.9.3
« on: July 23, 2014, 02:11:07 AM »
Generally liking the new look and feel of 1.9.3 (but still no scheduling of overall bandwidth use by time of day sadly) but wondering how I can restore the view of the queue below the main browser window so it shows all the items down/uploading at the same time as displaying the browser? I see the toggle between queue/browser but no obvious way of showing both.

I'm sorry, but the queue drawer (as well as the preview drawer) had to be removed. Drawers are very old UI and have always been a little cumbersome to use, but in any case the OS itself has been gradually dropping support for them and it's been a lot of work trying to keep them working - plus they play havoc with features like full screen, spaces and mission control.

I'll have a think about how I can make it easier for you in future updates.

I've had feedback from some long time users who miss being able to see the queue as well as the browsers at the same time. I'm therefore experimenting with an option to view the queue within the browser window itself with view to including it in an update :)

I'm not sure about running an ftp client full screen - just tried it for a sec, well, I think I might have a use for that, one day.

I'm also using that queue drawer. I don't mind if it's in a drawer or in some floating window but I do need to be able to view it while also seeing the normal ftp interface. Same goes for the transcript, which is now displayed via Console. I don't like the extra clutter of the Console.

The buttons seem to have grown as well: I now need to enlarge the client a bit to be able to view the remote editor button, a button I use a lot. I just prefer to have my ftp client running in the smallest possible but usable window.

It's mainly Spaces that people run into issues with, which is pretty widely used. Don't dismiss the value of FullScreen.. many people find fullscreen very useful, including me :)

The drawer will not return, but by popular demand the queue will be visible within the main browser window simultaneously in an update, as soon as I can.

The transcript view was very limited and caused many issues, including increased processor usage, and even occasional crashes inside the OS API used for text rendering which I could never get to the bottom of, even with help from Apple. On the other hand, Console.app is perfect for navigating and managing log files such as these, they can be viewed 'live' as they get updated. In the next update I've added an entry to the sidebar in Console.app so you can quickly access the Logs folder maintained by Yummy FTP transfers.

Yes, they are slightly wider. How small is your 'usable' window now? (screenshot would be good)
