Fixed Minimum Two-Column Width
« on: July 24, 2014, 06:45:37 AM »
Hey JD,

Congrats on getting the new versions and new website out the door!  Spectacular update! I'm surprised with this much change you didn't go 2.0.

With this update, you've fixed the two-column minimum width at 634px vs the last version which allowed a bit smaller (although still with a minimum).  Just curious why the forced widths?

I dev on a 13" macbook pro so screen real estate is at a premium and I often use two-column but don't need anything but the filenames visible.  It would be preferable for it to allow any width but if a fixed width is required, what's the smallest you can make it?

Cheers!
Jace

Thanks, Jace! To be honest, there is no new functionality in this version. It really is a clean-up and removal of a lot of legacy code and UI, from as far back as 10.2  :o

I was holding back with this stuff for v2, which is frankly crawling along because it's a complete re-write due to sandboxing for one amongst many culprits, but with Yosemite coming the age of the UI was just screaming at me… so I bit the bullet and introduced the new website I'd planned at the same time :)

The min width change was to preserve some UI from truncating, but I've addressed that separately and re-instated the old width for the next update (coming soon)

Awesome! (as always!)

I can't wait to see what's in store for v2.

I hope you're doing well :D
