Don't list paid upgrades in "Check for Updates"
« on: November 08, 2014, 10:12:19 AM »

I'm running Yummy 1.9.4 and have just performed a "Check for Updates". I'm shown a window that tells me "New software is available", and asks "Would I like to download this update now?"

After clicking "Install update", the version has gone up to 1.10.1b0, and the product is no longer registered.

Entering my seial number (good since I purchased back in November 2011), I'm told that it's invalid.

Having now re-installed v1.9.4, I find that scrolling to the bottom of the "Check for Updates" window gives me information that 1.10 is a paid upgrade even for existing users.

So, why show paid upgrades in an update window? I'd like to see only updates that I can install that don't give me demo software when I've already paid for a licence. At very least, state that it's a paid upgrade even for existing users in bold at the top of the update information, to make it really obvious that the $10 charge isn't just a special price for new users thinking of buying.

As an aside, does this upgrade mean the end of support for those of us on 1.9.4, or will updates continue to be made available?

Thanks,

Dan

Thanks for the suggestion, Dan, and sorry for the confusion on the update/upgrade front.

1.9.4 will receive updates to at least 1.9.5 and probably 1.9.6 for bug fixing only, but I'll see if I can make the upgrade process and notification a little more friendly and clear.
