Replace always overwrites never skips identical files
« on: October 12, 2015, 08:32:53 AM »
Im running OSX 10.10.5 and the latest version 1.11.

Im copying files from my Synology Diskstation NAS to a 3TB network WD Mybook Live.

If I drag a folder over... and then drag it over again... choosing "Replace" -> "Replace" skips identical files.

It always overwrites even though the contents of the folder were added minutes ago.

It always overwrites and never skips identical files.

Any help on this?

Thanks!

That's odd.. with this feature, Yummy considers 'identical files' to be:

1. Exact same modified date + time
2. Exact same size in bytes

Do these details of pre-existing files exactly match?

I just allowed network access to make sure the time and date was synced with an NTP service on the Mybook Live.

I'm just copying the same *test* folder back to the Mybook.

No matter how many times I drag the identical folder over it always replaces and never skips.

And you checked that the non-skipped files had identical date+time+size?

The date and times are different...

I really appreciate the help!

Ah, you're uploading - I thought you were downloading.

In this case, your FTP server might not support the ability to set server date/time of items. Try enabling the Use MDTM option in the Misc tab of your Bookmark settings. If that works, but the times are still wrong try to enable the Use UTC date format option below it.

So this is where I'm at... Adding MDTM syncs the dates but it's still not skipping. I also tried UTC but that did not work either.

This is transferring between two NAS drives: A Synology Disk Station and a 3TB WD Mybook Live.

When I copy from the Synology to the Mybook it never skips. When I copy back to the Synology it skips.

I think the FTP service was added as an afterthought to the Mybook Live... Is there anything else you can think of?

I really appreciate the help!

Try SFTP if it's an option?

Your FTP server simply doesn't support the set date/time feature.

Another option is to use Sync - Update Server but set the Newer files to Size rather than date.
