Dragging files from editor's title bar
« on: January 07, 2007, 11:44:38 AM »

Hi,

I don't know if this is a feature or a bug...
I've set up Yummy FTP to ask before overwriting existing files on the server. This works as expected when I upload files the "old fashioned way" (dragging from a Finder window to Yummy's window) or when I use TextMate's (the text editor I use) "DockSend File" command.
But sometimes I upload files by dragging the icon which is displayed in front of the file name in TextMate's window title bar to Yummy's window. And then, Yummy will NOT ask me if I want to overwrite an existing file. Instead it just silently uploads the file, thus overwriting the existing one.

Well, if this IS a bug, I'm asking NOT(!) to fix it (maybe making it an option in the preferences) because I really like that!
After all, I'm just looking at and working on the file so I'm pretty sure that I really want to upload it; unlike when dragging from a Finder window where it's always possible that you accidently select the wrong file, especially since the Finder still sometimes fails to sort by date correctly on opened windows...

Hi Tobias,

Yes, this is a bug - thanks for finding it! It's actually a little feature which is misbehaving when a drag such as yours used. The idea is that holding the Option/Alt key when dropping will toggle the 'what to do if there is an existing file' option. In the case of it being set to 'Ask' the toggle will result in a 'Replace' action. Unfortunately, in the case of your particular drag, Yummy incorrectly detected the Option/Alt key as being pressed.

I have fixed this - I hope you don't mind. All you'll need to do is hold down the Option/Alt key to get the same behavior.

All the best,
-Jason

No, I don't mind. :-)
Using the Option key is fine by me. (I dind't know about that, I installed Yummy FTP just a few days ago.)

Thanks for your rapid response!
