AppleEvents Error -1708 w/ BBedit
« on: April 26, 2007, 11:51:31 AM »
I get this error when trying to save from BBEdit 8.6.1 after saving a file that was opened through YummyFTP. Seems to happen when I open a bunch of files to edit from one directory then move to another folder to open more files in addition to the ones open. I then get this error and must quit all open files and open again.

This is the error...
this appleevent  was unknown to the recipient and could not be processed (MacOS Error code: -1708)

This only seemed to pop up after updating to 10.4.9. I'm running on a Macbook Pro 1.83. Not sure if this is this a BBEdit? MacOS? or YummyFTP issue? Annoying, because my workflow depends on working on so many files at once. Any ideas?

Interesting. I'll do some tests to see if I can reproduce this. The error code simply means that the event wasn't handled - not very useful.

Are you using version 1.6 of Yummy FTP, or an older version?

Have you tried 8.6.2 of BBEdit?

How many documents did you have open at once? I tried so far with 40 and no problems yet...

I usually have about 15 or so. Saving at random and bouncing around. If they are all from the same folder there is never a problem. Just at random when I have different files from various folder I get that error. Once I get the error I have to close ALL the windows then select it again. I don't have to quit the app, just close the windows. Its at random so its hard to say what is at fault. I will try to see if 8.6.2 helps. But its wierd that none of this seemed to happen till I updated to 10.4.9. Worse case if I can find 10.4.8 I will test on my other machine to see if that may have caused something to go nuts.

Weird. I'll do more testing here to see if I can reproduce it. I am also using 10.4.9.

Anybody else see this issue?
