How to you move files up one level?
There doesn't see to me a move option other than dragging. But I want to move a file up one level. How?

You could use the 'Move...' option from the File menu:

Select the file(s) to move then choose the Move... option. A text entry box will be displayed, showing the current full path to the file(s) - just remove the last part of the path (for the current folder) and click the Move button.

Ah-ha!  I have been wondering the same thing, and never thought to look in the "File" menu.  Doh!  Thanks JD.  A silly request, but would it be possible to have a toolbar button or right click context menu for this?

Oh, just thought I would say another solution for moving files back a directory (or so) is switching to the Column view.  :)

No, this doesn't help at all - the problem in question is when you need to send items to a directory up that isn't currently visible.  You can obviously move items to parent directories you can see, by just using drag and drop, and that applies to both List and Column view.

Well actually it does help.  Even though the problem is for directories you can't see it is helpful you have been navigating using the column view.

While it is not the perfect solution, it does work.    At least for me anyways.  Just thought I would share as sometimes typing in a diretory is not something I would like to do, especially when it is a long ways up or down the line.
