Tabs and image viewer?
« on: November 08, 2007, 02:34:35 PM »

Hello,

First I have to say I love Yummy FTP, I dropped transmit about a year ago for it.  I am a Web Designer/Developer and work on around 20 different sites a day.  I usually have around 5 to 10 ftp windows open which makes it hard to switch between them easily.  I was wondering if you had any near term plans for implementing tabs into the application.

I was also wondering if you were planning on any type of feature that would allow you to select and preview images easily without downloading them and opening in preview.  Basically a Quick Look feature.

Thanks for this great application and your hard work.

Hi there,

I have tabs planned for the next major upgrade, although I can't give you an accurate timescale at this point. As for the QuickLook feature, maybe you have not yet discovered Yummy's built-in viewer which resides in the Preview drawer?

To show the Preview drawer, click the > icon at the top right of the server listing, or select 'Show Preview Drawer' from the View menu. Click on an item in the server (or Mac) listing that you wish to preview, then click the magnifying glass icon at the bottom right of the Preview drawer. The file will be downloaded to a temporary location (as it will be deleted automatically when you're done with it) and then displayed in the drawer. To get a full screen preview, click once on the image. To dismiss the full screen preview, click again. You can resize the drawer by the right edge of its window frame to get larger or smaller display.

I am hoping for an API to be added by Apple in the future which will allow the actual QuickLook display to be used, but right now that doesn't exist - it is a Finder and Mail exclusive.

I've seen the preview drawer, but i always just saw the icon of the file type.  I never noticed the settings on the bottom with the magnify glass.  Thats exactly what I was looking for.  Thanks for your help.  Can't wait for the next version, sounds like it will have lots of awesome features in it.

Now that is awesome, you've definitely out done yourself.  Thanks for these great enhancements.
