JD,
Great job so far on the Leopard release beta. So far things are working great.
Just wanted to say, not a huge fan of the new icon. It looks great if it's big, but in my dock, being smaller, it's difficult to tell what it is.
Just wanted to give you that feedback.

I'm holding out for the animated application icons that are going to be in 10.6.

I also just dl'd the update and came running over hear to ask what's up with the new icon. Loved the other one much more. So I've scanned the new one being created by Pixel Sage ... and I like it. I do think the arrows need to stand out a bit more. But you know ... I still like the PBJ sandwhich original icon. Nothin' much more yummie than a PBJ! (I hope pixel sage is going to redo your droplet icon. But you already know my comments on that.) In fact, if the two-arrow ball/coin with a bite out of it is going to be the new icon, then it might make sense to make a single-arrow (pointing up) one for the droplet.

Really? I think the new one is a great improvement over the original. It's pretty much the same design, but updated for a Leopardy look. Plus also, did you notice that it has a huge 512x512 size in Leopard? View it in Cover Flow mode in the Finder (I hope pixel sage is going to redo your droplet icon. But you already know my comments on that.) In fact, if the two-arrow ball/coin with a bite out of it is going to be the new icon, then it might make sense to make a single-arrow (pointing up) one for the droplet. Yes, that makes a lot of sense - exactly what I was thinking too

JD,
When I first saw the new icon in the 1.6.2 betas I thought to myself that it was an interesting change. I don't dislike it but I do enjoy the original PB&J icon more from 1.6.1 and earlier.
Now with this link to the Pixel Sage icon creations, I gotta say please no more round icons! Everyone seems to be doing some take on round icons. It sounds so petty but Yummy FTP is my favorite app to have on my dock purely for the awesome PB&J icon. Don't take that away from me (us?).
Ok, I am sorry if this sounded ranty. i love Yummy FTP and I enjoy the creativity in the icon as well as the incredible coding behind the app.
If I had to choose between the round variant by Pixel Sage and the current icon in the 1.6.2 betas I would say keep what you have in the betas. It is much more appealing.
I <3 Yummy FTP! Skunkie

Thank you for the feedback. I do hear you about the 'blue circle' icon trend and it's an issue I raised with Pixel Sage. In fact, if you read his forum you'll see exactly this issue being discussed. But anyway, here's the deal: I have always been told how sucky my icons are, main app icon included. I'm trying to make them non-sucky Now, if I change icons it is a big deal to do it. Changing the app is the easy bit. The icon is everywhere! Disk image, documentation, web site, all the download sites, etc. Not fun. So, I don't change icons on a whim... I need to be 100% sure it is for the better. With this in mind, I want everyone to voice their opinions please! I certainly don't want to change icons again only to find everybody hates it

Hi JD, I prefer the original wafer to the little blue pill Good luck on getting a consensus! Cheers, Dave

Well, I must say I like both old and beta app icon, though if I had to choose, I'd take old one.
And please, please, please change those icons in Bookmarks. Everytime I look at them, I get unpleasant feeling of.. I don't know really how to describe it - feeling of Windows... I enjoy using Yummy, it does everything I need (dual pane rocks!) but icons are something to wish for.

This sorta relates to the Yummy FTP new icon, I figured it didn't really warrant its own thread...but here goes: I really like the new DMG layout. I am sure it has been changed since 1.7, but I have been using the very handy update feature in Yummy and haven't had to download the DMG for quite some time now. My internet was being funny and botched up my recent update to 1.7.1b2 and so I manually downloaded the beta DMG today. And I just wanted to say the layout is really nice! Ok, enough time wasting. Thanks for your work JD, and the rest of the staff at Yummy Software.

This is strange because it has been happening to me as well. Almost every time I click the update button, the download starts, but halts somewhere halfway, and my router needs to be reset. I mentioned this to Jason, since it's only happening with YummyFTP, but it's probably yet another leopard feature. Strange that it's happening to you as well...

My internet was actually down, it had nothing to do with Yummy FTP. Updates using the "Check for Updates" menu option always works. I canceled manually cause I noticed my web browsing came to a halt and I didn't want the quarter download to screw up my current Yummy FTP install. Your problem is completely unrelated to my above mentioned manual install. The reason for my manual download was for some reason even though I canceled the update during the download process and not the installation process Yummy FTP thought I already had the newest version. Anywho, this is all a bit off topic isn't it?

Thanks for your work JD, and the rest of the staff at Yummy Software. As a company, Yummy Software has about a dozen jobs... and Jason fills each and every one of them (except booth babe, and THAT job has been unfulfilled for a while now)!

Booth Babes can be guys! I for one would much rather see a Fella (being a female myself).
