Question about color labels
« on: January 15, 2008, 04:45:44 AM »

Hi and first of thanks for this awesome piece of software! I have been happily using it for about a year-and-a-half and could not do without it now...

A small question: Today I found the 1.7 update and you implemented server side color labels, a very useful addition for us. However,  while on my collegue's machine this manifests itself with colored bars like in the finder, I just get colored folder icons that are a lot harder to spot at a glance... I haven't found a preference setting that influences the way they are shown but I want those bars too! How can I get them?

Actually, I added color labels back in v1.6 Smiley

If you're using Mac OS X 10.3.9 then you'll see colored icons. If you're using Mac OS X 10.4 or later you'll get the color bars like you see on your colleague's Mac. There is no way to get them on 10.3.9 - it's a 'feature' of the OS itself.

Yeah, the previous version we used was 1.5, so that figures I guess... I'll have to watch for updates even more regularly than I already do apparently Grin

We both use 10.5.1 and Yummy 1.7.1b5, could it be an old configuration file in my Application Support folder or something?

Edit: Apparently this applies only to non-colunm-view (the appropriate name escapes me atm, sorry;) ), so I do have color bars in column view, just not in the other one, while on the other Mac you get color bars in both types.

Odd ... the other view is called List view. I actually recommend List view over Column view for a wide variety of reasons, but that's another story.

Can you please post a screenshot of your List view which seems broken with regard to color labels, so that I can see exactly what you mean?

List view, of course Smiley Here's a screenshot to show what happens, hope I don't mess up the forum layout as it's a bit big:

Thanks for the speedy feedback by the way!

Un-check 'Marquee list selection' in the Interface panel of the Preferences

Problem fixed!

Btw, the fact that the online colors are stored locally is very convenient, if at least for the way we us them. Now I can label the folders that are important to me and the others can do so as well, without interfering with the eachother's choices. If only the finder labels worked the same way...

Again thanks very much for the help!
