List refresh loses scroll position
« on: March 23, 2008, 09:36:28 PM »

I don't know whether this is new or not, but I have only just noticed it:

With a long list of files in a directory on the remote server (in List view), if I scroll to the bottom of the list and edit a file near the end, then when I save that file, Yummy refreshes the file list and displays it with the scroll-tab about a third of the way down. This means that I have to scroll down to the bottom again to edit another nearby file.  With several files to edit at the end of the directory, this seems awkward and annoying.  Can't remember it happening before.

Ah, just noticed something:  I had various subdirectories "open" -- i.e. showing contents.  That seems to cause the problem, as if I close them all then the refresh correctly shows the bottom of the list.  So something amiss with scroll position calculation.

Cheers

Actually, this is a known problem. It has been this way since v1.0 but you're the first to have ever noticed it

The problem is a tricky one for various reasons, even though you might think it's an easy 'remember the scroll value' task... it isn't quite so simple. I have, of course, already looked into how to fix this up but was unable to find anything at the time, and since nobody had reported it I put it on the 'back burner '

I will take another look Smiley

Thanks, appreciated.

Actually, as you will be aware, it has nothing to do with editing. Just refreshing the directory while displaying the end of the list produces the same phenomenon.

Oh well , if no one else has noticed it must be pretty rare so don't spend a lot of effort. At least I know a work around: closing the sub-directories.  On this particular occasion, however, I needed to refer to some of the filenames in a subdirectory, so I needed it open. Had I realized the cause at the time, I could have opened another window containing the subdirectory listing.

Great!   Cheesy

Your brain was probably working on it all this time, as a background job.
