I often need to create symlinks within a FreeBSD server hierarchy. Right now, the only way I know to do this in Yummy FTP is to issue a raw server command, basically the same way I'd do it by logging in with Terminal. But I use a graphical FTP program precisely to avoid having to use Terminal or issue Unix commands.
Here's my suggestion: Let's say I have two Yummy FTP windows open, simultaneously showing the two locations within the same server. I'd like to be able to Command-Option-Drag a file from one window to the other, and have Yummy FTP automatically create a symlink (with the same name as the original file) in the drag's destination directory. This would be ****ogous to the way you can create a Mac alias between two Finder folders. (Currently in Yummy FTP, this seems to just copy the file.)
In addition, since I assume creating symlinks is a common operation, I'd like to see "Create Symlink" added to the default list of commands in the "Remote Shell Commands" contextual menu you get when clicking on a server file. (Currently there are only a few archive-related commands there.) That way you could create a symlink in place (although presumably it would require a different name, like "foo.gif_symlink" or something like that) which could then be dragged to its destination and optionally renamed.
Another related suggestion: It would be nice if, when I click on a symlink, the contextual menu gave me the option to "reveal source file" (which would then open up the window with the real file, and highlight it, in addition to keeping the window with the symlink open).
Thanks,
San
