Hi,
i'm using the YFTP and it's excellent ftp-watcher feature on a daily basis.. however i'd love to see this feature implemented:
If a file in the watched folder is overwritten, silently overwrite the file on the server as well, even if the global setting is to ask..
Here's why: in general my settings regarding overwriting files is to ask.. shure the safest setting, and it saved my ass not only once.. however, in daily work with a ftp-watcher this can be a real drag and be very time consuming. I often edit files - eg images - and just overwrite them locally in the watched folder, so my decision to delete the old version has been allready approved in the app i'm editing.. so the need to switch to YFTP and approve the overwrite breaks my workflow significantly.. in short: it's a drag. ;-)
I don't know about the guts of those watchers, how they work, or how this could be implemented, however i could image to merge this feature with or into another related one:
"session-wide" overrides for the overwrite settings: to have an option within a session/connection to allow all further overwrites (general, maybe even on per file basis) for this session (only) without a prompt.. i'd image if that kind of feature was implemented, it'd solve it for ftp-watchers as well..
that'd kick ass for me.. ;-) what do you think?
regards,
Ben
