File listing renew not working correctly
« on: December 04, 2009, 01:56:19 PM »

When I open sub directories by clicking the arrow (in other words, keeping the root visible and not going into the sub directories themselves), the item renew button doesn't correctly refresh the page. I noticed this when I added a new file to a directory outside of Yummy FTP. When I refreshed the listing, my new files did not show up.

When the directory you're in is the only showing, the renew seems to be working fine.

This is by design.

The refresh option is selection sensitive. This means you can refresh just the subdirectories you want by selecting them before clicking the Refresh option.

If you have no selected folders then the displayed root directory is refreshed, but not its sub-directories that are open. This is to prevent an unwanted re-fetch of potentially time consuming and network traffic consuming re-fetching of every directory.

However, if your do want that behavior, simply hold down the Alt key while selecting the Refresh option.

Hope that helps Smiley

As all true Mac aficionados know, when JD says Alt key he really means Option key  Grin

LOL

Well, in my defense, on my UK aluminium keyboard it definitely says Alt Smiley

I do recall that there is some inconsistency here. Some people have Option keys, others have Alt. So take your pick!

Really?  Just 'alt'? or both?  It has always been called the Option key, and I thought "option" always appears on all Mac keyboards. The only reason "alt" is there (so I believe) is for running Windows programmes under emulation.

If you go to System Preferences=>Keyboard&Mouse=>Keyboard Shortcuts and hover over the shortcut for "Turn zoom on or off" what does the tool-tip say?  Mine says "Option...".

Yup, my help tag also says "Option".

But, here is my keyboard, so go figure Smiley

Ah but everybody (?) knows that that symbol is "option".  The "alt" is there as an alternative use of the key, not the name of the symbol.
Anyway...

Certainly, seasoned Mac users will recognize the symbol. I prefer to refer to a key by name when describing functionality though, so I'll make a mental note to call it Option/Alt from now on Smiley
