New connection window and external monitor
« on: January 07, 2010, 11:13:24 AM »
Steps to reproduce:
Hook a macbook up to external monitor, open yummy, open New Connection window, drag New Connection window to external monitor. Close yummy without closing the New Connection window first. Just AppleKey+Q normally. Disconnect external monitor. Open yummy, File->New Connection.

The New Connection window is now no longer visible and the only way to get it again is to plug in an external monitor then either drag it back to your screen, or plug in the external monitor and unplug it right away so that while Yummy is open it does automatically pull the New Connection window back onto your only display properly.

Make sense?

I'm having the same problem, both with New Connection as well as some other windows that were created on a 2-screen setup and positioned on the second screen. Now I'm back to a single screen, and Yummy seems to be remembering the position where they were last placed (good) but not checking against what the current screen boundaries are (not so good).

In this case the second monitor is gone, so hooking up the old monitor to move my windows back isn't an option.

This is on 1.8.1.

Thanks for bumping this topic - it had been missed.

I've looked at the code and don't see anything wrong so far. So I'll source a second monitor to set up a test and get back to you asap.

This is already fixed in the latest beta :

http://www.yummysoftware.com/beta/latest/YummyFTP.dmg

I did get a second monitor to verify this is fixed. It is indeed fixed :)

I am on version 1.8.7  (a year and half after the last post reporting this fixed).  And this is NOT fixed.
I even tried moving the window back over to the my laptop's monitor before quitting, but it still persists in being located "off screen" when I try to use Yummy without my second monitor.

Well. It WAS fixed. I wouldn't lie

Maybe something changed in Lion which broke the fix, if you're using Lion that is?

I'll go find another monitor to test with.

Works perfectly for me.

I'm not sure what to suggest because for me it Just Works. I didn't have to do anything special, but:

1. Make sure to quit Yummy and re-launch it
2. Try rebooting

Well, if it works perfectly for you, *I* must be lying, and deserve and eyeroll.  I must have bothered to create an account just to log into this forum and make up false bug reports.  ;) No, really truly, I still experience this bug. As we speak.

• I am on Snow Leopard. 10.8.6
• I am on Yummy 1.8.7
• I have quit and re-launched Yummy many-a-time
• I have rebooted many-a-time
• Always, consitently, since this problem popped up — I can not access any Yummy windows when using my laptop alone; I can only access them when connected to an external monitor — they sit there on the external monitor.

I noticed this problem over a month ago, and it has persisted though updates and many reboots and relaunches.
I'm moving to a new laptop and Lion in a day or so, which may cure the problem by chance.  But the problem definitely still exists with my particular setup.

I'm sorry - I didn't mean to offend.

It must be something to do with being on a laptop then, as all my testing is on a Mac Pro.

Let me see if I can get access to suitable laptop to test with.

In the meantime remove the Yummy FTP preferences file to delete the remembered window positions :

com.yummysoftware.yummy-ftp.plist

In

Mac HD -> Users -> yourname-> Library -> Preferences

Note that your Bookmarks will not be affected.

Just an update from me — since I haven't heard an update here.  I purchased a new macbook pro in January, upgraded to Lion, and just today, opened up Yummy and updated to the latest version (1.9.0), and the issue *still* persists.

Deleting the preferences file resolved the issue temporarily, but doesn't actually fix the bug.

Wow... I'm sorry this is still being problematic for you

I now own a MacBook so perhaps I can finally reproduce this problem. I'll report back asap.
