Scheduling

Every upload, download or syncrhonization can be configured to start at a certain time of day, with an optional repeat time of anything from one minutes to weeks.

The Schedule window is where this is configured, and it can be accessed in two ways:

Synchronization

When the Synchronize option is used, the configuration window for it shows a Schedule button. Clicking this will reveal the Schedule window, where the synchronization schedule can be configured.

Once a schedule has been defined, starting the synchronization will immediately run the schedule. If the start time was configured the synchronization will appear with a Waiting status in the Queue Drawer until such time as the start time is reached.

The defined schedule will be recorded in the FTP Browser’s Bookmark, if one is being used, so that it remains persistent across launches of Yummy FTP.

The schedule will only execute if a connection has been established using the saved Bookmark and an FTP Browser window is displayed. The schedule will cause a re-connection, should the connection be dropped while waiting for the execution time.

This process can be automated by configuring these two options:

  1. Enable the Connect automatically at startup option in the Advanced Settings tab of the Bookmark editor window to cause a connection to be made using the Bookmark as soon as Yummy FTP is launched.
  2. Set Yummy FTP as a Login item in your System Preferences to automatically launch Yummy FTP when you start your Mac

Transfers

To schedule transfers, they must already be present in the Queue drawer awaiting execution. This is achieved by either dragging the items to be transferred to the Queue drawer, or by selecting the items in their listing and then selecting the Download Later or Upload Later menu options, as appropriate, which are available in the Transfer menu and contextual menu for each listing.

Once the transfers indicate a ‘Waiting to start’ status, select them in the list and click the clock icon at the top right of the Queue drawer to display the Schedule window and configure their schedule.

Queue Drawer

Since scheduled items always wait for execution in the Queue drawer, those jobs can be managed there. The clock icon allows re-configuration of the schedule for the selected items, the right arrow icon will start the transfer immediately for the selected items, and the cross icon will cancel them.

Note that cancelling a job in a waiting status will delete the job and its associated schedule. Cancelling a scheduled job while it is executing will cancel the execution, but the schedule will still be intact and the job will wait for its next execution time, if it is configured to repeat. Otherwise, the job will just be removed.
